The provision of QoS in networks, so the mechanisms involved, are a hot topic. Some people think over-provisioning will work, others think that other QoS mechanisms need to be implemented in networks. This session provide information about how certain QoS technologies can be used, looking from specific needs of applications (like Grid, TCP, etc.) and how routing can be optimized towards QoS.

Presentations in this session:

  Title Speaker
1. On the joint use of new TCP proposals and IPQoS on high BW-RTT product paths Andrea Di Donato, University College london (UCL) (GB)
2. Traffic Engineering through Automated Optimization of Routing Metrics Thomas Telkamp, Global Crossing Telecommunications, Inc. (NL)
3. Class of Service Concepts in Autonomous Systems Jean-Alexander Müller, Leipzig University, Dep. of Computer Science (DE)
