The JISC Information Environment was originally designed as a set of standards and services to facilitate access to electronic (digital library) materials. It has now been extended in scope to support the growing need for access to digital repositories of e-learning objects, e-prints, e-theses etc. Authenication and Authorisation necessarily forms a vital part of the vision of the Information Environment, and JISC has been active in both providing AA services, and investgating next generation access management tools for some time.

This presentation will outline work to date, highlight new AA development work within the UK education community and explain the increasingly complex role of AA services within the growing JISC community. It will focus on development that is serving cross-domain solutions within the digital library, e-learning and e-research environments.

This presentation is part of session "AA" which starts at Tuesday, June 8 @ 14:00
