The recent growth of IPv6 usage has made it unavoidable to analyse whether IPv6 without IPSec can provide enough security. This analysis is also important since IPSec use on the Internet is relatively scarce, and will probably remain limited, even though IPSec itself provides a good, modular framework. The other security approach, the firewall, becomes a building block of each IP network. This presentation tries to analyse what is available and what is missing for IPv6 firewalling.
