This presentation will look at the origins, development and future of the Performance Enhancement and Response Team (PERT). The PERT was conceived of in late 2002 and set up to help end-users experiencing problems with data network performance. Network performance issues are notoriously difficult to troubleshoot because the cause of the problem could be anywhere in a wide range of diverse systems; it might not even be related to component failure or misconfiguration as such, just sub-optimal performance due to unexpected interactions between components. The value of the PERT is that it pools expertise from across the data networking research community in order to diagnose these nebulous problems.

This presentation is part of session "Performance Monitoring" which starts at Wednesday, June 9 @ 16:00
