Position Head of Adult Learning


Alan Noble MBE is the Head of Adult Learning at Buckinghamshire County Council. He is responsible for 25,000 students, 3,000 on line students and 1000 staff – in 150 locations. He is a passionate believer in the provision of lifelong learning, both for the continuation of economic growth and for its contribution to social stability. As Head of Adult Learning he is actively pursuing a policy of utilising ICT to help widen participation in learning recognising the benefits to the social inclusion agenda. He has held a number of public and voluntary appointments. A member of the NLN Transformation Board he is also currently Chair of the NLN Post 16 ICT Infrastructure Group responsible for implementing aspects of the DELG report. He represents ACL on JISC and is about to chair a DfES steering group looking at impact analysis of investment and outcomes around the issue of the Digital Divide. He is also a member of the LSC Task Group on ACL Transition and was a specialist panel member on Social Inclusion Through ICT for the ODPM. Currently he has the lead on two European projects working with Latvia, Finland, Czech Republic and Spain which are looking at creating an ‘e-enabled’ public sector workforce.
