János MOHÁCSI has graduated from the Technical University of Budapest at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering as a computer engineer in 1993. Then he was working as an assistant researcher and network and security manager at the Department of Control Engineering and Centre of Information Technology, Technical University of Budapest. Among several other projects having been attended by him, he has served as the leader of the TIPSTER6 IPv6 research program in Hungary. Later he joined DANTE, where he was working on GÉANT, the gigabit European academic ntework development project, especially in the fields of optical test and development, as well as in the areas of GÉANT multicast and monitoring services. In parallel, he has been active in further IPv6 related developments and he also played a major role in the WP1 activities (building and operating the IPv6 network) of the 6NET project, within the EU FP6. Currently he is working for NIIF/HUNGARNET as a senior network engineer. His main tasks are: development of the IPv6 network infrastructure and services at HUNGARNET, as well as improvement of the network security as part of the NIIF CSIRT project. His key areas of activity are: high speed computer networks, networking protocols, network security, and network management.
